Since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the joint team of Ukrainian Medical Association and Revival Institute has taken a strong position in the rear and decided to contribute to the victory over the occupiers. We have created a petition to impose additional sanctions on Russians, including in the field of science.

While Russia's boycott of the economic, political, cultural, and sporting spheres began almost immediately, the scientific and medical worlds preferred to remain neutral. However, everyone is gradually realizing that when hospitals, including orphanages and maternity hospitals, are bombed, ambulances are shelled, doctors and scientists from various fields are shot, children and innocent people are killed, one cannot stay away. Neutrality means supporting terror.

One of the first attempts to condemn Russia's actions was on March 2 at an extraordinary meeting of the UN General Assembly. Then a resolution was issued demanding that Russia stop using force in Ukraine. The resolution was supported by 141 countries, against - 5, maintained neutrality -35, including Algeria.

However, the scientific community proved to be more conscious and impartial in its views. One of the first to support the sanctions proposed in our petition was Brahim Kichou, President of the Algerian Association of Cardiologists, Professor Brahim Kichou, Head of the Cardiology Department at Tizi Ouzou University Hospital. We hope that soon his colleagues will listen to the opinion of such a respectable person and condemn the actions of the aggressor too.

For more than a month, Russia has been ruthlessly bombing Ukraine and wiping entire cities and towns from the face of the earth. After more than a month, dozens of Ukrainian cities found themselves on the brink of a humanitarian catastrophe. For more than a month, thousands of Ukrainians are going through the worst moments of their lives.

Millions of our citizens are forced to leave their homes and at the moment they often do not have the basic means of subsistence.

As medical organizations, the Ukrainian Medical Association and the Revival Institute aim to provide appropriate assistance to the Armed Forces, trapped people in shelled cities, internally displaced persons, and medical institutions. To complete this task, it was extremely important for us to get the support of Western partners.

The Croatian Medical Chamber has expressed its solidarity and sympathy with Ukrainian doctors and other health professionals, as well as with the entire Ukrainian people. The Chamber has particularly condemned the growing number of attacks on civilian facilities, health facilities, and health workers. In order to help Ukrainian colleagues and the Ukrainian people, Croatian Medical Chamber has launched yesterday a nationally oriented humanitarian action "Croatian Doctors for Ukraine" (17.3. - 1.4.2022.) which aims to raise funds for medical goods for Ukraine. The Croatian Medical Chamber will pay the funds to the bank account of the special fund for medical assistance for Ukraine already established by the European Forum of Medical Associations (EFMA), Standing Committee of European Doctors (CPME), and World Medical Association (WMA). Collected funds will be used primarily for the purchase, transport, and distribution of medical supplies (medicines, medical products, medical equipment, etc.) for Ukraine and the provision of medical aid to refugees.

Since the beginning of the full-scale war in Ukraine, almost 3 million of our fellow citizens have been forced to seek refuge in other countries. Neighboring countries, such as Poland, Hungary, Romania, Slovakia, and Moldova provide housing and food assistance and simplified entry conditions.

Although in general, the largest percentage of our fellow citizens came to Poland, Romania also actively participates in the placement of Ukrainians. There are six centers in Romania where refugees can stay for free for any period. In particular, in addition to accommodation and food, Ukrainian-speaking volunteers work at the border. Transportation is also provided. Information on queues at crossing points is constantly collected and updated.

In addition, Romanians care about Ukrainians who have stayed in Ukraine and need medical care. The network of pharmacies "The social pharmacy" receive and pay a bill for products on the maximum emergency list. The products remain in custody and leave with the first transport to the hospitals in Ukraine. They have managed up to now to send medicines, such as insulin and others, directly to the hospitals in Ukraine worth over 40,000 Euros through three transports. In just 48 hours since receiving the urgent medicine list, drugs have reached Chernivtsi and then Kyiv and Mariupol.

They are ready to continue to cooperate and provide internally displaced people and those who are close to warfare with medicines and other vital products. "The social pharmacy" also calls on their citizens for financial support in order to have the resources to continue the humanitarian action.
